Where the Currents Meet: Life in the Best Of Maldives

Do you know how it feels when you pull your mask off after a great dive?

You feel the salt on your skin, the adrenaline still pumping, and the immediate need to tell your buddy exactly what you just saw. This past April, our Best of Maldives tours with our two vessels, EcoPro Seascape and EcoPro Mariana, were full of those moments.

Dancing with Giants of the Ocean

The highlight for many was undoubtedly Gangehi Manta Point. We spent over an hour watching more than 20 of them glide effortlessly above us.

It’s one of those dives where you eventually just stop clicking the camera and start breathing in the magic.

But the ocean always has a surprise up its sleeve. While we were anchored in Meemu, a whale shark decided to hang out right behind the boat, basking in the lights. It’s a huge thrill to see the largest fish in the sea while you’re just relaxing on deck with a drink. We also had some "jackpot" moments at Alimatha Jetty, where we managed to get 40 minutes alone with dozens of nurse sharks before any other boats arrived. From the grey reef sharks at Miyaru Kandu to a surprise hammerhead at Hulhumale Beyru, the marine life was out in full force.

Things to do above the Surface

Deck life quickly fell into a rhythm of easy-going camaraderie and shared laughter. We spent our afternoons between dives swapping stories at the barista bar or engaging in surprisingly competitive card games on the sun deck of the Seascape. When the ocean called for a short break, we stretched our legs on the powder-white beaches of uninhabited islands.

One of the most cherished memories for everyone was the traditional beach BBQ at Digurha. There’s something about standing on the sand under a blanket of stars, sharing a meal with your feet in the surf, that turns a group of divers into a group of friends.

Two Vessels, One Heart: Seascape or Mariana?

While the route and the incredible wildlife remained nearly the same, the teams of two "base camps" gave their best to meet the guests' expectations.

The EcoPro Seascape is our flagship. It’s big, modern, and offers that extra bit of luxury, like a post-dive soak in the sun deck whirlpool. It’s perfect for those who love a bit more space and premium amenities.

On the other hand, the EcoPro Mariana is our "home away from home." It’s a smaller, more traditional safari boat with a very personal, familial atmosphere. With only 16 guests, it’s easy to make friends for life.

Whichever boat you choose, you’re diving with a team that values sustainability and safety. We’ve ditched the single-use plastic and focused on high-quality service so that these reefs stay as vibrant as the stories we tell about them.
