The untouched atolls of the Maldives’ Deep South reminded us this past week of the magic that happens when remote wilderness meets a passionate group of divers.
From Gan to Koodoo, it was a journey defined by adrenaline, camaraderie, and the kind of nature that leaves you speechless. We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a Full Charter of 18 guests from Korea aboard the EcoPro Seascape Maldives – a week that vibrated with energy both above and below the surface.
Addu Atoll Magic: Eagle Rays, Baby Sharks & Tiger Shark Sighting
Our adventure began in the historic Addu Atoll. Anyone who knows the Deep South knows that nature follows its own rhythm here. Thanks to the fantastic synergy between our crew and the Korean group leaders, we stayed fluid and flexible, ensuring we hit the best spots exactly when the conditions were right.
This spirit of adaptability and looking out for one another is at the core of our "We Care" philosophy. It's about making sure the guest experience is seamless, no matter what the ocean has in store.
The ocean rewarded our patience quickly. At the "Purple Wall," we were welcomed by crystal-clear water and a sea of soft corals blooming in every shade imaginable: a powerful reminder of our commitment to reef conservation. But the real magic was waiting in the channels. A majestic school of eagle rays glided past us with effortless grace, followed by dozens of curious baby grey reef sharks. And when silvertips and even the legendary tiger sharks emerged from the blue, the awe in our guests' eyes was visible through every dive mask.
Huvadhoo Channel Thrills: Hundreds of Sharks at Viligili Kandu
As we cruised north into Huvadhoo Atoll, things got exciting. The Deep South is famous for its powerful currents, and sites like Viligili Kandu lived up to the hype. These are exactly the conditions that draw the "big stuff" in – and we weren't disappointed.
Hundreds of sharks patrolled the channel edges, a sight that humbles even the most seasoned explorers. While the diving here demands focus, our guides kept everyone calm and safe, ensuring the adrenaline was pure joy.
Back on the EcoPro Seascape Maldives, the deck became a hub of laughter and storytelling. Over fresh coffee, we swapped shark stories and rewatched the day’s footage: it’s this mix of underwater adventures and relaxed community that defines the essence of our safaris.

Lunar New Year Special: 4 Whale Sharks Snorkeling at Koodoo
As we reached Koodoo, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. It was the Lunar New Year, marking the start of the Year of the Horse. In many cultures, this zodiac sign represents energy, adventure, and a powerful drive forward – characteristics that perfectly matched the spirit of our group
In a night we won’t soon forget, the Maldives offered a spectacular New Year’s gift to our Korean guests. We had the incredible luck of snorkeling with four whale sharks at once. One of these gentle giants even paid a personal visit to the back of the EcoPro Seascape Maldives, lingering in our lights for what felt like an eternity.
We celebrated the moment – and the Chinese New Year – with a massive festive dinner under the stars: a powerful beginning to a year destined for adventure.
It was the perfect end to a week that reaffirmed our love for these waters and the joy of sharing such wonders with great people.
