Watching Giants & Finding Magic: A Week Aboard EcoPro Mariana
There is a special kind of magic that happens when a small group of passionate divers comes together on a traditional Maldivian safari boat.
Our latest journey through the Central Atolls reminded us exactly why we love what we do: intimate vibes, world-class sightings, and that unmistakable "home away from home" feeling.

Sharks, Mantas, and Macro Wonders
After doing the check-dive we kicked off the week at Rasdhoo, where a sunset-to-night dive delivered a spectacular show of sharks and teeming fish life.
While the visibility at Boduhithi was a bit moody, the three mantas that glided past us didn’t seem to mind one bit!
One of the true highlights was Angaga Thila. Even with low visibility, the reef was full of life. We counted six stonefish in all sizes and six scorpionfish. It was quite a poisionious dive.
The star of the show, however, was a "monster" octopus that spent 15 minutes interacting with us. What a rare, unforgettable encounter that left everyone full of excitement at the surface.
From the 50+ sharks at Miyaru Kandu to the stunning corals of Five Rocks, the adrenaline was high. We even got a parting gift on the final day: a 3-meter whale shark cruising past one of our groups!
Safety & Education First
At EcoProDivers, we care about your confidence underwater. When the currents picked up on day 2, some guests felt a bit overwhelmed. We paused, did a thorough re-briefing, and got everyone back into their comfort zone.
To dive deeper into the ecosystem we love, our EcoPro Mariana Boat Manager Oliver hosted an evening presentation on Maldivian marine life and sharks. Education is a core part of our mission, and seeing our guests engage with the biology of these predators is always a highlight for our crew.

We rounded off the adventure with our signature beach BBQ, sharing stories under the stars.
Delicious food, great dives, and a sustainable footprint! This is how we liveaboard.
