What truly makes a diving trip unforgettable?

There are places you know from photographs. And then there are places you only truly understand when you're hovering 20 metres below the surface, watching a manta ray glide silently towards you. The Maldives belongs to the second category.

We could tell you what makes our liveaboards special. But honestly, our guests do it better. They're the ones who've seen with their own eyes what we promise and who can tell you whether the experience lives up to the description.

Here's what they say.

What guests are saying across liveaboard.com, TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, and travel blogs

The crew experience: The difference that people make

When you read through our guest reviews, one thing becomes clear almost immediately: it rarely starts with the underwater world. It starts with people.

Time and again, guests describe our crew not as a service function, but as the element that transforms a good trip into an extraordinary one.

Reviews across liveaboard.com highlight the same themes: professionalism paired with genuine warmth, dive guides with an exceptional eye for marine life, and a team that's always present without ever feeling intrusive. "Very professional crew, great boat." "Top service, excellent staff from the kitchen to the dive deck." "Great boat. Great crew. Great dives." The pattern repeats across dozens of independent reviews. What makes this stand out is not the praise itself, but its consistency. Whether guests are travelling as couples, families, or solo divers, whether they're first-timers on a liveaboard or seasoned underwater explorers, the crew is what they remember.

The diving: What sets the Maldives apart from everywhere else

Julie, a travel writer (This Is Luxury Travel) who had completed more than 30 liveaboards worldwide, including six in the Maldives alone, documented her trip aboard EcoPro Seascape in detail. Her assessment is precise: the Maldives offers some of the most exciting diving in the Indian Ocean, with exceptional visibility, pristine atolls, and encounters with manta rays, whale sharks, reef sharks, and a richness of hard and soft coral that makes every dive feel genuinely different from the last. She also highlights something that experienced liveaboard divers appreciate immediately: the operational setup. All dive equipment is staged on a dedicated dhoni (a traditional Maldivian vessel that accompanies the main boat), keeping the liveaboard itself uncluttered and comfortable throughout the trip.

For anyone who has experienced disorganised liveaboards, this is not a minor detail. A guest who joined our Northern Atolls route singles out Hanifaru Bay as her personal highlight. It's one of the world's most celebrated manta ray cleaning stations, protected within the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

For many guests, the night dive with mantas is the emotional centrepiece of the entire trip: watching them move through the water for an uninterrupted hour, close enough to feel the current from their wings.

Comfort and on-board life: What to expect on EcoPro Seascape

EcoPro Seascape is a 41-metre liveaboard launched in 2024, with 14 cabins across three decks and space for up to 26 guests. Despite its capacity, guests consistently describe it as spacious and never crowded. The jacuzzi on the upper deck becomes a natural gathering point between dives, particularly at sunset.

Meals are prepared by an on-board chef combining Maldivian and international cuisine, served buffet-style with a changing menu throughout the trip.

Who is this trip for?

Our guests come from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels, and the reviews reflect that.

Choosing between Seascape and Mariana in the Maldives

Both vessels run the same routes at different times of the year, so the choice comes down to what kind of experience you're looking for on board. EcoPro Seascape accommodates up to 26 guests and offers luxury with spacious cabins, a jacuzzi, and a sleek, modern design.

EcoPro Mariana is our smaller, 16-guest vessel with a more intimate, home-from-home feel. Same dive sites, same standards, different atmosphere above the surface.

Several guests mention that they plan to come back, not because they felt they hadn't seen enough, but because the combination of crew, dive sites, and atmosphere set a new benchmark. One guest put it simply: if she ever returned to the Maldives for the remote southern atolls, EcoPro Seascape would be her only choice.

Our routes to Northern Atolls, including Hanifaru Bay, Central Atolls, Best of Maldives, and Deep South are designed to offer genuinely different experiences, even for guests who have dived the Maldives before. Hammerheads at first light, whale sharks in shallow water, current-driven channel dives: the Maldives has a way of surprising even the most experienced eyes.

When things aren't perfect

Authenticity means acknowledging that not every trip is flawless and that the ocean makes its own decisions.

Although we are deeply grateful for all these overwhelmingly positive reviews on Google Reviews, TripAdvisor, and liveaboard.com, there are occasional critical voices. We from management take every piece of feedback seriously and respond to it directly. That's not a policy, but it's how we operate. We're not a faceless booking platform. We're a team of divers who care about the quality of every single trip we run.

We don't promise perfect sea conditions. We promise that we'll do everything in our power to make the most of whatever the sea gives us.

Frequently asked questions

Which liveaboard should I choose — Seascape or Mariana?

Both vessels run the same routes at different times of the year and visit the same top dive sites. The difference is purely the on-board experience. It comes down to your preference for style and group size.

What certification do I need?

A minimum of Open Water Diver (PADI or SSI) or any other equivalent is required.

Maximum diving depth is 30 metres. Guests who are OWD-certified only, can complete their Advanced Open Water Course on board (on request).

Familiarity with drift diving is recommended.

Is the trip sustainable?

We are pioneers when it comes to sustainability and are one of the most sustainable operators in the Maldives. No reef contact, no animal disturbance, partnerships with local certified operators. We execute beach cleaning activities and operate almost paperless.

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

No. We recommend purchasing a local SIM card on arrival (approx. USD 40 / 20 GB)

When is the best time to dive in the Maldives?

The Maldives can be dived year-round. We adjust our routes seasonally based on the monsoon. Manta rays are present throughout the year. Whale shark encounters in the southern Ari Atoll are most frequent between May and November; Hanifaru Bay (Northern route) peaks between June and November.
